A Nigerian woman has emerged as the first Nigerian female pilot to fly Boeing 787, and the first Nigerian female pilot to fly Qatar Airways.
Adeola Ogunmola Sowemimo set an outstanding record in the aviation industry when she achieved this feat.
This Day reported that the Captain is a native of Ogbomosho, Oyo State, married to Seunfunmi Olamilekan Sowemimo, and a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho.

Adeola Ogunmola started her aviation career by completing her Standard Aviation Course in 2010.
In 2011 she received her Commercial Pilot Licence from Sunrise Aviation (Ormond Beach, Florida).
She also got a bachelor’s degree in Transport Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Oyo State in 2011.
Nigerian female pilot makes history
In 2013, Adeola joined Medview Operations, Abuja, where she worked until October 2018.
Adeola then joined Qatar Airways in 2018 and became the first Nigerian woman to fly the gigantic Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
According to reports, she is also the first Nigerian woman pilot to fly the Boeing 767 Aircraft across the Atlantic.
Her hard work and dedication earned her a place among other African female pilots who made history. These include the likes of Chinyere Kalu, the first Nigerian female commercial pilot in 1978; Asli Hassan Abade of Somalia, and Ghanaian Millicent Melody Danquah.
Her achievement was celebrated by friends and family and even well meaning Nigerians including Arunma Oteh, a former World Bank Vice-President following her post on her Facebook page:
She wrote: “It is the Lord’s doing and it’s marvelous in my sight.”
Adeola through her ground breaking feats has inspired many, including African women to attain unimaginable heights and defeat the status quo.

Female flight attendant becomes a pilot
Meanwhile, Precious Sibalo, a young woman from Zimbabwe, finally achieves her dreams of becoming a commercial airline pilot after many hurdles.
According to Blacknews.com, Precious got inspired to become a pilot after she saw some pilots during a school trip to the airport. After that trip, a fire was kindled in her heart.
Having not met any female pilots, she became even more motivated to make a difference by becoming a female pilot so she kept her hopes high.
