Nigeria must be run in a businesslike manner: Reno Omokri calls for higher taxes for foreign countries | Ikejabird.com

Recently, Nigerian activist Reno Omokri has drawn attention to the significant revenue made by South African companies in Nigeria, urging the Nigerian government to take decisive action to protect the country’s economy.

He gave examples like the MTN Nigeria Limited, which generates ₦2 trillion in revenue annually from Nigeria, and DSTV which earns ₦300 billion. This money leaving Nigeria puts pressure on the country’s currency, the Naira, and affects its value.

Omokri suggests that Nigeria should tax these South African companies more and limit how much profit they can take out of the country.

Stop emoting and start reasoning

He also points out that some countries, like Europe, the US, and Canada, make it harder for regular Nigerians to immigrate.

Omokri explained further that instead, they welcome Nigerian professionals like doctors and teachers because they need their skills. Omokri believes Nigeria should have similar policies to protect its interests.

He further calls for the promotion of Nigerian companies like Globacom over foreign competitors, particularly in areas where local businesses face a shortage of competing enterprises.

Additionally, he highlights how African countries face higher taxes when they try to refine their own products, like cocoa and coffee, instead of exporting them raw. This results in African countries losing out on potential profits while other countries benefit.

Omokri proposes imposing similar taxes on German companies in Nigeria to create a fairer trading system.

Reactions: Very valid! Mr Reno

Some netizens did not agree with what he said while some did here are the comments:

@lion_heart_d_2: It’s like u have a personal beef with MTN and DSTV…Nigeria needs foreign investors dey are not our problem,  our problem is bad leadership. Use dis same energy and advice d government to cut cost of governance, I have nt seen u tweet abt  dat b4

@AkpanSamson1: Very valid! Mr Reno, do you know that the government is aware of these policies and even more? But kick backs and bribes given to principal officers and politicians will not allow implementation. When we frown at recycling politicians, we know what we are doing

@SpeshEmmy: Globacom does not provide half of the service MTN provides. You will know this if you’ve ever used the useless network before. No telecommunications company can beat the reach and efficiency of MTN.

@Ageshin_OA: In fact , I prefer Glo to any other network o. It’s the only network giving me the browsing complacency. Also with very good palliatives and cheap data.

Don’t pressure Tinubu over fuel price: ‘Yoruba’ Reno urges Nigerians

Meanwhile, popular social media influencer Reno Omokri urged Nigerians not to pressurize President Tinubu over the hike in fuel prices. He clearly stated that the President has no control over the price of petroleum products since the subsidy has been removed.

He stated that the burden of fuel price management should now rest on the shoulders of industry stakeholders, particularly the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), who are better positioned to deal with the dynamics of the petroleum market effectively.

Reno Omokri explained that Nigerians should rather mount pressure on the President on the minimum wage as he stated that the current minimum wage of ₦30,000 is grossly inadequate when compared to the current cost of living in Nigeria.
