Following the importation of adulterated petrol which culminated in scarcity of fuel, the Group Managing Director of the NNPC Limited, Mele Kyari has apologised to Nigerians.
Kyari said the NNPC was unaware that methanol was in the imported fuel.
According to sources, the NNPC boss appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream currently doing an investigation on the importation of adulterated fuel.
He noted that the terminal where the fuel was ferried into the country had been supplying the country regularly.
Kyari also described it as a major terminal in the business of supplying fuel to West Africa and many European countries.
He urged Nigerians to avoid panic buying of petrol, adding that the NNPC would ensure that supply gets back to normal.
