National Emergency Management Agency issues flood alerts in 13 States and 50 Communities | Ikejabird.com

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has issued a warning stating that 13 states and 50 communities, primarily located in the northern region, are likely to experience heavy rainfall, which may lead to flooding between September 13 and 17. 

The announcement was made by Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of NEMA.

The affected states include Kano, Kebbi, Katsina, Niger, Kwara, Zamfara, Bauchi, Taraba, Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Gombe, and Jigawa.

They are mostly Northern states 

Specific communities mentioned by Farinloye are Sumaila and Kunchi in Kano State, Argungu in Kebbi State, Bindawa, Jibia, Kaita, and Katsina communities in Katsina State, Kontagora, Mashegu, and New Bussa communities in Niger, and Kosubosu in Kwara State. 

Others include Kaura Namoda and Shinkafi in Zamfara State, Bajoga, Darazo, Kirfi, Azare, Jama ‘are, Itas, Misau in Bauchi State, Bali, Donga, Lau, Serti, Mutum-Biyu, Yorro in Taraba State, and Briyel, Biu, Dikwa, Kukawa in Borno State.

Furthermore, communities in Adamawa such as Ganye, Mubi, Demsa, Jimeta, Mayo Belwa, Numan, Shelleng, and Song, as well as those in Yobe including Dapchi, Gashua, Geidam, Kanamma, Machina, Potiskum, will be affected. 

Additionally, Nafada in Gombe State and Dutse, Gumel, Gwaram, and Miga in Jigawa State are at risk.

NEMA also warn those living beside Rivers Benue and Niger 

NEMA has also urged caution for communities along the Rivers Benue and Niger due to rising water levels. This advisory extends up to Bayelsa State. 

Residents in these areas have been advised to take precautionary measures in the coming days.

The National Flood Early Warning Systems (FEWS) Central Hub, under the Federal Ministry of Environment Abuja, provided the predictions used by NEMA.

Meanwhile, residents of Aeroplane Road in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state and Bomadi local government area of Delta are already heart-broken as flood have taken over cemtries in these places, leaving corpse floating on streets.
