Mr Ibu: Key facts about Nollywood star’s illness

Nollywood star John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu in the entertainment industry, is currently facing a serious health crisis. 

Everything started when Mr. Ibu celebrated his birthday in an undisclosed hospital, attracting the attention of everyone.

 A video posted on his official Instagram page showed him in a hospital gown, surrounded by his family, with a birthday cake and drinks on a cart.

Here are the key facts about his illness:

1.  Health Struggles: Mr. Ibu revealed in a video posted on October 18, 2023, that he has been unwell for several weeks and is not responding to treatment. The situation has become so critical that his doctors are considering the possibility of amputating his leg if no other treatment options are effective.

2. Plea for Assistance: Mr. Ibu, while expressing his hope for prayers and support, emphasized the seriousness of his condition.

3.  Losing his leg: He also expressed his fear of losing his leg and requested prayers and assistance from well-wishers to avoid such a drastic outcome.

4. Financial Strain: Mr. Ibu’s daughter, also featured in the video, disclosed that she has been managing the medical expenses during his illness. The financial burden has taken a toll, and the family is now appealing to individuals and organizations in Nigeria to assist in flying Mr. Ibu abroad for more advanced medical treatment.

5. Recurring Health Issues: It’s not the first time that Mr. Ibu has faced health challenges of this magnitude, and his family is seeking external help to ensure he receives the best possible care.

Mr. Ibu, the beloved Nigerian comic actor, is currently suffering from a severe health crisis that has placed his leg at risk. 

He and his family are reaching out to the public for assistance in covering the costs of advanced medical treatment, including the possibility of treatment abroad.
