It was reported on Wednesday that one Malama Khadija married her daughter’s suitor in Rano LGA of Kano State.
According to Daily Trust, the mother had insisted that there was nothing wrong with the decision to marry her daughter’s suitor. She said it was not forbidden in her religion.
Malama Khadija told a Radio correspondent who spoke to her via call that she is living her best life with her new husband.
Malama Khadija also revealed that she took the decision after her daughter indicated that she will not marry the man adding that she did not hesitate to take the chance.
“I didn’t do it with ignorance. I contacted clerics and they said it is not prohibited. When I contacted him, he agreed, but my parents and relatives refused to do the marriage rites. That was why I decided to go to Hisbah and we are happily married now,” she said while adding that she is just as beautiful as her daughter.
Abdullahi Musa Rano, an uncle from the family said Malama Khadija was advised not to marry the man but she went ahead and divorced her first husband in order to do so.
“She mounted pressure on her husband to divorce her just to marry the man. We can’t do this shameful thing in our family which was why we refused to join them in marriage. We are not happy with what Hisbah did and we are reporting to bring out our daughter. We want the general commandant and the state government to look into the matter,” he said.
