The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has confirmed the presence of evidence indicating that controversial Nigerian singer Naira Marley and his associate, Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, were involved in assaulting the late singer Mohbad prior to his death.
This revelation comes after Sam Larry faced backlash on social media for a video that showed him and others harassing Mohbad.
Sam Larry, who was abroad at the time of Mohbad’s passing, stated after his arrest, stating that their dispute stemmed from a 2 million Naira debt.

Police confirm the number of suspects
During a press briefing on Friday, Owohunwa provided an update on the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s case, revealing that the police have identified 26 witnesses.
He also disclosed that five suspects have been interrogated.
“So far 26 witnesses have been identified in the ongoing investigation of Mohbad.
“Five suspects have so far been interrogated in relation to the ongoing investigation,” he said.

Court remands Naira Marley, Sam Larry, others over Mohbad’s death
In another news, Naira Marley, the head of the Marlian record label, and Lagos socialite Sam Larry, whose real name is Balogun Eletu, have been placed in police custody by a Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State
The Lagos State Police Command requested that Naira Marley and others be held for 30 days while they investigate a case.
However, the magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, ruled that they should be remanded for 21 days.
