Messi gives Argentina life line as France cruise into round of 16

Lionel Messi was the star of the show as he helped Argentina remain at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Argentina vs Mexico

The 35-year-old was instrumental to the Albiceleste’s win over Mexico following their disappointing opening day loss to Saudi Arabia.

It was until the 64th minute before the Argentine captain struck as he fired home a left foot shot that beat Guillermo Ochoa in goal.

The PSG midfielder was also on hand to assist Enzo Fernandez to seal the win with a curling shot into Ochoa’s left-hand corner. 2-0 it finished.

Saudi Arabia vs Poland

The Arabians were unlucky as they could.not consolidate their opening day win against Argentina.

Piotr Zielinski opened the scoring in the 34th minute as Saudi were handed a lifeline to get the equalizer through a penalty which was missed by Al Dawsari.

Robert Lewandowski then put the game to rest in the 82nd minute to take Poland on top of Group C as they face Argentina next.

Tunisia vs Australia

The Carthage Eagles were second best against the Aussie national side.

And the only goal of the game was scored in the 23rd minute by Michelle Duke as it ended 1-0.

France vs Denmark

In the other Group D fixture, France had to dig in deep to record a 2-1 win over the Danes.

Andreas Christensen had earlier cancelled out Kylian Mbappe’s opener but the PSG striker grabbed the winner in the 86th minute.to send Les Bleues through to the next round.
