On Friday, President Bola Tinubu approved the nomination of four new Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
They’re to serve a term of five (5) years at CBN, at the first instance, pending their confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
Here’s what we know about them.
1. Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro
Emem obtained her bachelor’s and MBA degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University. She is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Lagos Business School. With over two decades of experience in the banking sector, she has worked in various roles, including corporate and commercial banking.
Currently, Emem holds the position of Executive Director, North Bank, at UBA, where she has been recognized with numerous accolades at the annual CEO Awards.
2. Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo
Dattijo, a proud native of Kaduna State, Nigeria, holds a master’s degree in development economics and policy from the University of Manchester. He has a rich professional background, having worked as a policy adviser at the Executive Office of United Nations Secretary, General Ban Ki Moon, in New York.
In addition, Dattijo has served the Nigerian government as the Commissioner for Budget and Planning in Kaduna State before assuming the role of Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kaduna State.
3. Mr. Philip Ikeazor
Phillip, from Anambra state, completed his undergraduate studies with a BSc. in Economics from the esteemed University of Buckingham. With an extensive career spanning over 30 years, he has amassed valuable experience in the financial services industry.
Phillip has held prominent board positions in well-known banks such as Keystone Bank Limited and Ecobank Kenya Limited, among others. Notably, he is recognized as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
4. Dr. Bala M. Bello
Born in Taraba state, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He was appointed by Buhari as the Executive Director of Corporate Services at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank.
Additionally, he holds an honorary senior membership with the Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria, is a fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration, and a member of the Certified Pension Institute of Management.
