MC Oluomo: Has Lagos had enough of motor parks anarchy and power overuse?

By Ayodimeji Falade

The Chairman of Lagos Parks and Garages Management in Lagos, Musiliu Akinsanya is the illustrious and rich Agbero popularly known as “Mc Oluomo”.

His affluence and political inclusion has made him a well known king of the street.

This popular, rich motor park chairman’s reign is plagued by NURTW leadership crisis, allegations of bloodshed, extortion, thuggery, and lawlessness.

It’s not surprising that the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria (JDWAN) chose to go on 7 days strike over similar allegations of anarchic reign of the park bosses.

Accusations range from Agbero beating drivers to coma, to cult fights inside parks, to forceful collections of levies from drivers and also exorbitant increment in fares against the will of the people.

The recent Alaba market clash that led to massive destruction of properties and countless people wounded in October 2022 is a reminder of their excesses.

Also the use of thugs to upset a peaceful rally that led to deaths and mayhem in 2020 and hundreds of cult clashes in and around Lagos parks.

It’s alleged that many of these killings that ravage park users and drivers are orchestrated by the lawless garage bosses in the state.

How long do Lagosians have to stay under the reign of wrath?

Are these allegations true about the Oshodi groomed NURTW chairman?

Although, he has been a tough speaking person, with some footage indicating how he has spoken harshly and using threats in his comments.

Would this alone justify him being dangerous?

He has also vehemently denied plenty of allegations of involvement in sponsoring thuggery. He did deny sending armed thugs to Endsars protesters in 2020.

He also shared a video and posts via his Instagram account denying the allegation of extorting Keke riders and even forcing them to buy campaign stickers in September 2022.

As he called the act evil and a plot to tarnish his image.

Even with massive allegations trailing Mc Oluomo he has always denied his involvement in any.

Subsequently, the People’s Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Olajide Adediran made comments on these while he was formally presented in Akwa ibom.

He said he is ready to cleanse out Lagos parks and wean every one of the unlawful use of power that causes hardships in parks and markets.

He vowed to put an end to unsafe parks and stop thuggery across the state.

Are we close to the end of godfatherism and hooliganism, in Lagos?

Thuggery is a cancerous element in Lagos which can not be linked to only one person, but most be collectively shunned.
