Paris Saint Germain’s coach Luis Enrique has said that Kylian Mbappe‘s injury is not as serious as it seems, despite the latter being forced out of Sunday’s 4-0 win over Marseille.
Mbappe looked to suffer a left leg injury in a clash with Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi seven minutes into the match at Parc des Princes. And even though his ankle was severely impacted, he tried to continue playing the game.
However, about 15 minutes later, coach Luis Enrique was left with no choice but to substitute the club’s talisman, Mbappe, for Gonçalo Ramos in the 32nd minute.

At that point, PSG led their fierce league rivals by a lone goal scored by Achraf Hakimi in the 9th minute. Five minutes after Mbappe’s exit, Randal Kolo Muani doubled PSG’s lead.
The team continued to play brilliantly without Kylian Mbappe, and Ramos, who replaced the Frenchman, stepped up to make it 3-0 in the 47th minute. The Portuguese added another in the 89th minute to seal the 4-0 victory.
But despite the convincing win that comes with a clean sheet, most fans of the club were worried over the fitness status of their talisman. In the post-game press conference, Luis Enrique played down Mbappe’s fitness issue which has been identified to be an ankle injury.
“I don’t know exactly what happened but I think it was a knock. He tried to change the strapping on it and continue but the pain wouldn’t go away,” the Spanish tactician said. “I don’t think it is anything serious and I suppose he will be back soon but it is better not to take risks when a player is not 100%.”

If it is nothing serious as the coach had said, Kylian Mbappe is expected to be in action on September 30, when PSG visit Clermont Foot for their 7th league game of the season. The French champions are currently sitting third in the Ligue table with 11 points in 6 games, two points away from first-placed Brest.
