Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, recently had to undergo surgery to repair a torn knee ligament.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Zuckerberg disclosed that he had suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear while practicing for an upcoming mixed martial arts tournament.
In an update on his surgery, he wrote, “I am on the road to recovery,” he wrote in an update. “Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me.
“I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that’s delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.”

He also shared a series of photos showing him in a hospital bed and his wife taking care of him.
Mark Zuckerberg took up MMA during the pandemic, and from that time, his involvement has moved past casual. The tech mogul even built an octagonal fighting ring in his backyard and took part in his first Jiu-Jitsu tournament in May, where he won gold and silver medals.
“Competed in my first jiu-jitsu tournament and won some medals for the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu team. Thanks to Dave Camarillo, Khai Wu, and James Terry for training me!” he wrote.
The Meta founder also shared some pictures of him competing and winning the tournament.
