Idris Daja, a 31-year-old civil servant from Mashegu LGA of Niger State who lost his wife, Maryam Liman just 11 days after marriage has revealed that it was the worst experience of his life on Saturday.
While speaking to a Punch Newspaper correspondent, he confirmed that he lost his wife on January 17, 11 days after the wedding which took place on January 6 in Niger state.
“Immediately after the wedding on Friday, she began to complain of constant headache. I felt it was because of the stress that she went through during the wedding. She took paracetamol,” Daja was quoted to have said.
“About two days later, which was Sunday, she told me that paracetamol was no longer working for her. So, we visited hospital. The doctor examined her and said the headache was due to stress; then we left and returned home,” he added.
Daja said it was exactly a week later that she died despite having unidentifiable symptoms. He said he was away on a two-day assignment when he got a call from his uncle to return home.
“No one told me that she had died. I didn’t know until some of my friends began to call me. The bad news was already trending on social media. When I saw, I didn’t believe it at first,” he said.
The 31-year-old described the incident as a traumatic event in his life from which he had been unable to recover.
