Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has disclosed that the Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk will be out for a month after he suffered a hamstring injury on Monday.
The coach said that the injury was a big blow to the club and it would impact subsequent faceoffs both in the league and the champions league.
The Liverpool defender was taken off against Brentford on Monday after he sustained a heavy injury.
Klopp has revealed that the defender will be out for a month or more.
What Liverpool Coach Said to Reporters
“Virg was a surprise for us, obviously, a big blow. He didn’t feel a lot. I took him off, actually, no risk,” Klopp said.
“In the end, the diagnosis was pretty harsh, but we talked about weeks – more than a month. I hope it goes quickly, but for now he is not available. That’s how it is. We have other centre-halves, as long as that’s the case everything is OK for the team.
“But for Virg, it’s harsh. He played an incredible amount of games over the last few years. [Now] we cannot use him on the pitch at least. Off the pitch, we will do that.”
Heavy Setback: Liverpool Can’t Have it More Worse
Liverpool has struggled to gain important points and as they trailed slowly at Premier League table this season, it appears that they would have reached the extreme end of what may be considered a bad season if they eventually crashed out of Champions league.
