Egyptian forward and Liverpool talisman, Mohammed Salah, has again come under fire from some Muslims across the world for celebrating Christmas.
The football star, a Muslim, had in a post on his verified Instagram account extended hands of celebration to the Christians who are celebrating annual festival.
He posted pictures of himself, wife and kids donning the Xmas cloth and sitting beside the Xmas trees.
The post, which has amassed comments and likes was, however, greeted with mixed feelings, with Muslims criticising that the soccer star’s post is a celebration of what is forbidden according to his Islamic faith.
“You should acknowledge that many kids look up to you as a Muslim figure, this is not setting a good example brother,” a fan wrote.
Christmas, celebrated across the world, signifies the birth of Jesus Christ. Islam however differs on the date and categorizes the celebration as “Haram (forbidden).”
Ikeja Bird understands this won’t be the first time Sallah would draw the wrath of Muslims to himself as he has been celebrating Xmas since moving to the English Premier League side, Liverpool.
