List of Nigerians sport stars in the Guinness book of Records

The Guinness World Records are all about celebrating the best and most extraordinary achievements in the world. 

Breaking a record is a big deal and a serious matter, so there are strict rules to determine what qualifies as a Guinness World Record.

 Nigerian athletes have done some amazing things and have their names in these records. They’ve worked really hard, loved what they do, and are incredibly talented.

 They’ve also shown great sportsmanship, inspiring people in Nigeria and all over the world with their achievements. These African Guinness World Records are a symbol of their dedication and courage, making them a source of pride and inspiration for their country and the world.

Here are some of Nigerian Sport stars that are in the Guiness world record

1.Haruna Abdulazeez

     Haruna Abdulazeez, who was born in Kano state, has earned two entries in the Guinness Book of Records. In 2020, he achieved the first record by using a tennis racket frame to control a tennis ball for 2 hours and 15 minutes. 

Then, in October 2020, he set another record for the most touches of an American football with his feet in one minute. Surprisingly, at the age of 78, he accomplished this feat. Both of these remarkable records were achieved in Kano.

2.Chininso Eche 

  Chinonso Eche, who was born in Warri, Delta state, made it into the Guinness Book of Records for his amazing football skills.

 He’s known for doing 111 consecutive touches with a football using his head in just one minute. In October 2021, Eche also set a record by doing 23 football headers in one minute while lying down. 

Despite being just 15 years old in 2023, he’s gained quite a reputation as one of the best football freestylers in the world. 

He’s been featured in the Guinness World Record Book for 2021, 2022, and 2023. His estimated net worth is around $10,000. His real name is Chinonso Miracle Eche.

3.Bose Omolayo

   Bose Omolayo, a powerlifter from Nigeria, achieved some incredible feats. First, she won a gold medal in the women’s 79 kg event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan. A little later, at the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, she clinched another gold medal in her category.

Bose’s journey is impressive. When she was just 15 years old, she worked as a hairdresser in Lagos, Nigeria. She learnt hairdressing and even opened her own salon. But then, she decided to focus on becoming a para powerlifter.

Her hard work paid off as she took the top spot in the women’s 79 kg competition at the Paralympics. She didn’t stop there. In the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships, she not only won her division but also set a new weight-lifting record by lifting 144 kg.

4.Chukwuebuka Ezugha and Victor Richard Kipo

        Chukwuebuka Ezugha and Victor Richard Kipo set a Guinness World Record in December 2021 for the most consecutive football passes as a team of two.

5.. Folashade Oluwafemi Ayo

Alice Oluwafemiayo, a Paralympian athlete from Nigeria, was born on March 1, 1985, making her 38 years old. She’s into powerlifting, and she hails from Plateau. In the 2012 Summer Paralympics, she won a silver medal in the women’s 75kg category, and impressively, she also broke a world record there.

Her success continued in the powerlifting world. At the 2017 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico, she secured a gold medal. She didn’t stop there. In the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, she again won gold in her division and set a new world record by lifting an astounding 152.5 kg.

Folashade, as she’s known, is a dedicated athlete, and her determination paid off with a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, London.

6.Peter Aho

 Peter Aho, a student at the University of Benin, shared that his friends motivated him to focus on cricket. He said, “I’ve liked sports since I was young. I used to play table tennis and compete in the 100m sprint for athletics. But my friends got me into cricket.”

What’s impressive is that he did something amazing in cricket. He took six wickets and only allowed five runs in a short 3.4-over match against Sierra Leone.

7.Vincent Okezie

Vincent Okezie, who is just 15 years old, achieved something incredible in 2022 – he set four Guinness World Records (GWR). He’s from Abia State and works as an apprentice at a mechanic workshop there. Vincent manages both his apprenticeship and his schoolwork.

In March 2022, Vincent did something remarkable. He performed the most consecutive backward handsprings with a soccer ball between his legs, which earned him one of his Guinness World Records.
