The Lagos State Government will soon commence publishing pictures and details of sex offenders.
This was disclosed by Executive Secretary of the State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi at a briefing.
She said this was in tandem with section 42 of the State’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law which supports the Agency to periodically publish details of sex convicts in the State.
According to her details of convicted sex offenders to be publicised include – Name, Picture of the Sex Offender, Nature of the offence and the duration of the sentence handed down by the court.
She said the details would be published periodically on the State Government’s website, (www.lagosstate.gov.ng), the website of the Ministry of Justice (https://lagosstatemoj.org) and the Agency’s website, (www.dsvrtlagos.org).
Vivour-Adeniyi noted that the initiative is one among many others utilised by the State to stop impunity serve and warn intending sex offenders.
She urged residents to call the toll-free number 08000333333 to report cases of domestic and sexual violence.
“The present administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is resolute to prevent incidents of sexual and domestic abuse, while ensuring justice for all survivors,” she said.
