She was pregnant
Mrs. Raheem, who was pregnant at the time, fell victim to Vandi’s action.
Vandi, attached to the Ajiwe police division, was suspended two days after the tragic incident.
The court trial started in January, and the deceased’s husband, sister, police personnel, pathologist, and seven others testified against the defendant. The Lagos state government presented a one-count charge of murder, backed by 27 exhibits.
Never to have seen the bullets
Despite Vandi being the sole witness in his defense, the judge remained unconvinced by his claims.
Vandi asserted that the presented bullet, alleged to have caused Mrs. Raheem’s death did not originate from his rifle on the day of the incident.
