The Lagos State Government has shut down Bab Fafunwa Millennium School, Ojodu formerly Ojodu Grammar School and halted academic activities and examinations until January 2022.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo made this known to journalists when she visited the school on Wednesday.

Adefisayo who disclosed that, the second term starts on January 4th, 2022, said the pupils will be given a test, so they can have a Continuous Assessment (CA).

“We need the students to be calm because they are traumatised. It is an internal exam, so it will not disturb the curriculum, they are done with classes.”

Earlier in the morning, angry parents stormed the school demanding that their wards be released to them and insisting that exams must not hold.

The Parents questioned while the school management should allow the students into the school while yesterday accidents of a truck that crashed 17 students is still fresh in the minds.

Mrs Adesanya, a parent said, “my two children cannot be in the school while some of their school mates are either dead or critically ill in the hospital.”

Another parent, Mr Olusegun said, “the hoodlums are outside threatening, we have tried to calm them down, let the school release our children to us”

Eyewitnesses alleged that the truck driver was trying to escape from some LASTMA and Federal Road Safety officials when he lost control and rammed into the students.

However, the FRSC has denied their involvement in the accident, saying they were alerted by passers-by after the crash had happened while LASTMA stated, the driver lost control of the vehicle, probably because of mechanical failure.
