The Lagos State Police Command has intensified security across schools, worship centres, markets, recreational centres, and event venues as part of renewed efforts to ensure public safety.
Speaking to journalists at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, said personnel have been deployed to strategic locations statewide to guarantee a crime-free Yuletide.
“We want the general public to know that Lagos is safe and secure. We have made additional deployments to all schools, places of worship, religious centres and other locations frequently visited by people to ensure all worshippers are safe,” Jimoh said.
He reassured residents that Lagos remains safe, emphasising that the enhanced security measures will persist throughout the ember months and into the New Year to protect Lagosians and other Nigerians coming into the state. “We don’t have any concern to be worried about; we are beefing up security throughout the state.”
In a separate disclosure, CP Jimoh said 56 suspects linked to offences such as conspiracy, kidnapping, robbery, assault, and threats to life were arrested during multiple operations in November. Authorities also recovered 10 exotic vehicles and seized firearms, dangerous weapons, including machetes, battle axes, and assault daggers, and Nigerian military camouflage, charms, and fake foreign currency.
This renewed security comes amid rising insecurity, kidnappings, and killings in various parts of the country, particularly in northern states.
