Nollywood actress, Kemi Afolabi is due for treatment in a few weeks time in the United States of America (USA). This is with the help of others in the film industry. A reliable source in the industry confirmed this to IkejaBird in a chat.
When asked about the medical trip, the source said: “It (the trip) is positively going forward. Yes, of course, Nollywood actors are contributing to it. It will be in the United States of America in few weeks.”
When this reporter broached the idea of an interview during a telephone call, Afolabi, who sounded weak and moody, declined.
She said: ” I am not in the mood to grant any interview. I do not want to grant an interview.”
Several attempts by this reporter to make her yield met a brick wall as the call ended.
Afolabi was diagnosed of an incurable disease, lupus, early this year.
Research shows lupus is a disease that occurs when the body’s immune system attacks tissues and organs in the body (autoimmune disease). Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including joints, skin, condition that has no cure[Lupus] but can be managed by medications and takes me in and out of the hospital at will (SLE).
“Fluid blocked my lungs, affected my heart from functioning well which was the reason for my breathlessness and that is caused by the condition diagnosed! Surgery was the only option to drain out the fluid fast.”
In March, the thespian revealed that her doctor told her that she had five more years to live and had already spent one year.
