Many media outlets such as Punch Newspaper, Dailytrust and Cable News have confirmed the arrest of Simon Ekpa, a self-described Igbo separationist activist.
Ekpa was reported to have been arrested at his home in Finland by the INTERPOL in collaboration with the state police.
The self-acclaimed activist who had a cult following in some parts of Nigeria particularly in the south east had instituted a Monday sit-at-home order in the previous months.
Now, he is also asking everyone to sit at home and not vote at the upcoming election.
Social Media Reacts to Simom Ekpa’s Arrest
@princeunvieled: “Good let them deport him to the east in Nigeria we want to tell him something.”
@heistemi: “Let his sit-at-home enforcers go fight for him. Next thing, he should be extradited to Nigeria so he can get a befitting treatment.Please keep him till after election.”
@josh4you: “Simon_ekpa
is a Criminal sent to kill Igbo people and many like him still day and will be paid to do the same work what the Efulefu Otule was doing. It is upto Igbo people to be wise and protect Igbo land.”
@Yusfash: “Na wa ooo. See has many Igbo keep denying Simon Ekpo now when they arrest him. Some of the igbo are denying the fact that he is not ibo while some are saying ipob never have a spokesman. But I watch him addressing the Igbo at large and most of the Igbo never condemn him.Why now!!”
@ObaiTrillion reacted: “I’m not a fan of Simon Ekpa. But you don’t have to call him a terrorist because of his civil disobedience. Election will come & go. Using him to score a point because of your candidate is funny. You’re selling your own brother for a political post you’re not sure of yet.”
