Murja Kunya, a popular skitmaker from Northern Nigeria, has been detained months after Kano Sharia court pleaded for her arrest.
The Tiktoker was reported to be arrested at Tahir Hotel in Kano.
Kunya was booking a hotel for her client who showed up for her show when the police picked her up.
In September 2022, a Shari’a court in Kano instructed the police commissioner to arrest a number of tiktokers for corrupting society’s mores.
Kunya made the list with Mr 442, Safara’u, Dan Maraya, Amude Booth, Kawu Dan Sarki, Ado Gwanja, Ummi Shakira, Samha Inuwa and Babiana.
“Sequel to the complaint lodged by Muhd Ali Hamza Esq, Abba Mahmud, Esq, Sunusi I. Umar Esq, Abba, A.T Bebeji Esq, B.I Usman Esq, Muhd Nasir Esq, L.T Dayi Esq, G.A Badawi & Badamasi Suleiman Gandu Esq, I am directed by the presiding Upper Sharia Court Judge, Bichi Division Kano to write and kindly request you to conduct investigation against the above mentioned suspects for proper action,” the letter had read in part.
The 24-year-old lives in the Hotoro area of Kano and she is a Kannywood actress. In 2021, she became more prominent on Tiktok when she began miming songs.
