The leader of the soldiers , Colonel Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, has been chosen by his fellow military officers to take charge as the country new leader.
Brice Oligui Nguema, head of the Republican Guard, is the man at the head of the soldiers who deposed Ali Bongo Ondimba in Gabon.
The coup happened after the military took control of the government on Wednesday morning.
They mentioned that they did this because they believed the social situation was getting worse and might lead to problems later.
They also claimed that the presidential election on August 26 was not conducted fairly. The country’s election organization said that the current president, Ali Bongo, got 64.27% of the votes, while the opposition candidate Ondo Ossa got 30%.
Colonel Nguema, who used to protect the president, is now leading this change, which shows that the Gabonese military is fed up with the problems happening in the country.
