It is named after three prominent political figures in Nigerian history; Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Sir Mobolaji Johnson served as the military governor of Lagos State in the 1960s,while Alhaji Lateef Jakande was a former governor of Lagos State in the Second Republic. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a prominent political leader, served as the governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007. The park serves as a tribute to their legacies and contributions to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
