The renowned literary figure, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has come forward to support Nigerian popular singer Davido, urging him not to apologize for the controversial video he posted on his social media pages.
The video featured scenes from his signee, Logos Olori’s music video, ‘Jaye Lo,’ where people were seen praying and dancing in front of a mosque.
After facing heavy criticism for the video, Davido deleted it from his platforms, but some Muslims still demanded a public apology.

What of EL-Rufai – Woke Soyinka
However, Soyinka disagreed, stating that Davido owed no apology to the Muslim community.
Soyinka pointed out that in the past, the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai, had made offensive comments about Christians but was never asked to apologize.
He emphasized that there was nothing for Davido to apologize for, just as there was no need for El Rufai to do so previously
Moreover, Soyinka highlighted a tragic incident where a Christian college student named Deborah Yakubu was killed by a mob of Muslim students in Sokoto last year over alleged blasphemy.
He clarified that it wasn’t Davido’s music that led to such violence, reaffirming his stance that an apology from the singer was unnecessary
