Popular Nigerian musician and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has expressed his reaction to the recent ruling by the Election Petition Tribunal.

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, which convened at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, made a significant decision on Monday by nullifying the victory of the Labour Party’s candidate, Thaddeus Atta, as the duly elected representative for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency. 

The court deemed the election inconclusive and instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize a supplementary election in 33 polling units where elections had not taken place within 90 days.

This is the power of faith 

During an interview on Channels TV Politics on Wednesday, Banky W welcomed the tribunal’s judgment and referred to it as a miraculous opportunity.

Banky W stated, 

“For me personally, it’s a miracle in and of itself that we get another chance to finish the election. I think it’s a testament to the power of perseverance, the power of faith, and the collective will of the people who want to participate in the rebuilding of this democracy.”

Tribunal nullifies victory of Labour Party lawmaker in Lagos, Banky W reacts 

In another news, the Tribunal sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, has nullified the victory of Labour Party (LP) Lawmaker, Thaddeus Attah, as the Representative of the Eti Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State. 

The court order, issued on Monday, September 11, mandates the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election in the 32 polling units of Eti-Osa within 90 days.

In response to this ruling, Nigerian singer turned politician, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, who contested the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed optimism by posting on his social media account, “It is possible. Still.”
