Angela Job Emodiae, a Nigerian entrepreneur, has retracted her statement where she claimed to have made N1billiion naira from the sale of kuli kuli, a locally-made gingered snack.
In a post on Facebook, the lady said she only “pulled a stunt and it worked” when she made the claim in a now-deleted viral post.
Ikeja Bird recalls that Angela drew the irk of social media users when she claimed to have made more active income to the tune of billions from her business in the previous year.
“I hit 1 billion naira in sales in year 2022 selling spicy kuli kuli and peanut burger. This year 2023 I set target for myself to hit 2 billion naira in sales. All from this online space,” she posted.
Her claim did not go well with Facebook users who questioned the rationale behind it, with many submitting that the claim was a lie from the pit of hell.
Amid controversy generated by the reactions to the post, Angela through another post said she was only pulling a publicity stunt.
“So my publicity stunt worked? You go fear dragging people. People wet dem drag back to back dey try biko. See as I gave Nigerians work to do,” she said.
“You people should allow me sell Kuli Kuli peace. Was it my name you all saw in the account? Shebi una dey whine me ni. But its great that I pulled a stunt and it worked.”
Social media, however, were not fazed by the explanation as many people went to the comment section to knock the lady for pulling a weak stunt with falsehood.
