Barely four months since Potter took the role of a manager at Chelsea, the team has taken a significant nosedive.
The tactical vest of the team appears to have fallen off, and now when they win, it appears to be a matter of luck rather than actual formation master class.
This was not what the Chelsea management foresaw when they signed the former Brighton coach.
They had hoped that he would stanch the leaky faucet and start firing on all cylinders across all competitions.
Cameo of Good Things Ahead
There was a cameo of good things ahead when he first came in.
Potter was central to a few wins but just when you could say tada, the world came tumbling down.
Chelsea Under Tuchel
Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel had a winning mentality and stability. They were a threat even when they were trailing.
Under the French coach, they had an impressive run where they won a couple of major awards such as Champions League and Club World Cup.
Not Fully Prepared for the Task
Graham Potter had obviously proven that he is not fully prepared to take on a team as big as Chelsea. The bulk of expectation maybe weighing heavily on him.
In the last two games where he faced Manchester City, he lost both abysmally.
Today, in the FA Cup match against Man City, Chelsea performed like a team that is bereft of ideas, a team that is currently a shadow of its former self.
How far can Potter go from here until he gets booted out? How much faith is left in the board’s tolerant bag for the coach?
Only time will tell.
