Is all hope lost? Things that Peter obi and Atiku can do after Supreme Court lost

By Oluwayanmife Ayobami

After the Supreme Court upheld President Bola Tinubu’s election win, people are wondering what’s next for Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who were his main rivals.

The court’s decision dealt a blow to their ambitions, but there are still questions about whether they can continue to challenge Tinubu’s victory.

While it may seem like the end, political experts say that Nigerian politics is unpredictable, and there could be unexpected opportunities for Atiku and Obi to keep fighting through legal means. They could explore legal channels to address issues like procedural irregularities or specific aspects of the electoral process.

However, they can also consider strategic actions to continue their impact on Nigerian society and advocate for their causes.

1. Engage in Advocacy for Electoral Reforms: Lead or actively participate in advocacy initiatives focused on promoting electoral reforms and transparency in the electoral process, aiming to enhance the integrity of future elections.

2. Public Engagement and Outreach: Maintain an active presence in public discourse through various platforms, including media appearances, public speeches, and social media, to keep pertinent issues in the public eye and garner support for their causes.

3. Community Empowerment Initiatives: Channel efforts into grassroots empowerment programs, focusing on initiatives that promote education, healthcare, and economic development, thereby directly impacting the lives of the Nigerian people.

4. Policy Advocacy for Good Governance: Advocate for policies that promote good governance, transparency, and accountability at all levels of government, emphasizing the importance of efficient and responsible administration.

5. Diplomatic Engagements and International Relations: Explore opportunities for diplomatic engagements and collaborations with international partners, fostering relationships that could facilitate the exchange of knowledge, resources, and support for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.

6. Economic Policy Advisory Role: Offer expertise and guidance in the development of comprehensive economic policies that prioritize sustainable development, job creation, and the diversification of Nigeria’s economy.

7. Youth Empowerment and Mentorship Programs: Spearhead initiatives aimed at empowering the youth through skills development, mentorship programs, and entrepreneurship opportunities, nurturing a generation of capable and engaged leaders.

8. Promotion of National Unity: Actively promote national unity and cohesion, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusivity as integral components of Nigeria’s social fabric, and advocating for initiatives that bridge divides and foster a sense of collective identity among Nigerians.
