MEN’s Olympic football: Brazil to defend their title against Spain.
It’ll be Brazil against Spain for the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Today by 12:30pm Nigeria time. The two qualified for the final of the men’s football competition on Tuesday (3rd August), by beating Mexico and Japan in the semis.
Brazil and Spain are both guaranteed a medal.
For the Brazilians, it will be a chance to retain the title they won five years ago in Rio.
But for Spain, it’s an opportunity to clinch Olympic gold for the first time since the Barcelona 1992 Games.

From Spain ; Pau Torres and Pedri, to Brazil’s Dani Alves and Antony, both sides have had a number of standout players during the competition.
But two in particular have shown why they are a key part of their national teams, and could be the difference in the final.

The 24-year-old has been the ultimate talisman at the front for Brazil throughout the tournament so far.
Marco Asensio
25-year-old Marco Asensio came into the Olympic tournament on the back of relatively quiet season with Real Madrid, scoring five goals and registering two assists.
But his Olympic competition so far has been particularly striking.
