Ikeja Local Government has concluded its 2026 Ramadan Iftar series after weeks of engagement with key stakeholders across the community.
The initiative, led by the Executive Chairman, Akeem Dauda was held on designated days as part of efforts to foster inclusivity and strengthen ties within the local government.
At the final gathering, artisans, market leaders, and members of the fourth realm were in attendance.
The Iftar programme began with religious leaders, including members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the League of Imams, reflecting an interfaith approach to community engagement. Subsequent sessions featured traditional rulers, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW),political leaders and party stakeholders.
Youth organisations, Community Development Committees (CDC), and persons with disabilities (PWD) were also hosted, alongside political office holders, management, and staff of the local government, in what officials described as a deliberate effort to carry every segment of the community along.
Throughout the series, the gatherings provided an opportunity for interaction between the council leadership and stakeholders, while also reinforcing the values of unity, reflection, and shared responsibility associated with the Ramadan season. The council also shared food and fruits to attendees to enable them break their fast.
According to the local government the initiative underscores its commitment to inclusive governance and community development, utilising the Ramadan period as a platform to deepen engagement and strengthen relationships with residents across Ikeja.
