Frank Geng-Quangrong, a Chinese national currently standing trial over alleged homicide, said he spent N60 million on his late girlfriend Ummukulsum Sani.
The suspect made this disclosure on Wednesday, January 11, before the High court in Kano where he is facing a homicide trial.
The 47-year-old Chinese, who was dragged before the law last year after he was fingered in the death of 22-year-old Ummukulsum, said the amorous relationship with the deceased started in 2020 after she got his number from a friend.
The defendant through his lawyer Mr Muhammad Dan’azumi further revealed that since the relationship kicked off, he has been taking care of Ummukulsum because he loved her.
“We started our relationship in July 2020 and she started asking for money. I gave her all she wanted because I loved her.
“I transferred over N60 million to her GT Bank account, N18 million for her to start a business, N4 million house and N6 million for University education among others. Whenever I go to pick her up for dinner at home her mum always welcomes me with open arms,” he said
He told the court that in February 2022, Ummukulsum married someone else, which left him heartbroken.
Frank said he went broke after spending money on the deceased who kept demanding money and promised to marry him.
The Chinese businessman said he lives at Railway Quarters Kano and he is a Muslim.
