Naira Marley, the popular Nigerian singer, has addressed the accusations linking him to the death of the late singer Mohbad, his former signee.
He asserted that he is not responsible for Mohbad’s demise and is actively planning to return to Nigeria to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
Naira Marley’s management team issued a statement through his Instagram account, responding to the controversies surrounding Mohbad’s sudden death and the allegations against him.

In the statement, Naira Marley expressed his shock and grief over Mohbad’s untimely passing, emphasizing that he considered the deceased as both a brother and a member of their music family. He extended his condolences to Mohbad’s family and hoped for their strength in coping with the loss
Naira Marley firmly denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death, either directly or indirectly. He acknowledged that, like in any industry, conflicts can arise among colleagues, even within music families.
While they did have disagreements during their working relationship, he emphasized that these disputes never escalated to the extent portrayed by certain individuals. He stressed that they were in the process of legally resolving their business disputes when Mohbad passed away.
The singer revealed that he had chosen to remain silent about the matter due to his emotional distress over Mohbad’s death and to avoid jeopardizing the government’s ongoing investigation.
He also clarified that he had been out of the country since August 31, 2023, and was actively arranging his return to Nigeria to assist with the investigation and provide his account of the events.
Naira Marley assured that he is fully cooperating with the police and has no reason to be on the run since he played no role in Mohbad’s death.

In an Instagram story, Naira Marley shared his sorrow over MohBad’s death, expressing his disbelief and urging for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding it.
Recall that Mohbad left Marlian Records, allegedly due to threats and harassment from Marley, as stated by his wife. Hence, there have been accusations against Marley, with people calling him out for potential involvement.
