A Nigerian man shared the receipt of a recent fuel purchase he made at a filling station in Lagos worth N70,500 for his wife’s car and generator.

The loving husband decided to shower his wife with this gesture, which is really romantic especially in this season the country has found itself.

The man, identified on Twitter as @seyedele posted a picture of the receipt showing he had purchased 1 litre of fuel for about N500.

In the past, 1 litre of fuel was sold at N189 but with the recent announcement of the removal of fuel subsidy, the prices skyrocketed creating massive queues and leaving others stranded.

His tweet:

“Just performed the extremely romantic gesture of filling my wife’s fuel tank and extra for the generators at home. By Allah, everyone involved in this heist will crumble”

Nigerians who responded to his post wondered if he was going to be able to maintain spending 70k on fuel weekly as it was going to become unaffordable.

Netizens pleaded that the FG should intervene before things get out of hand.

@temmyt007_ : “Hmmm, normally I spend about 13k (full tank) x 2 on fuel monthly. As it is now, full tank will be able 33k and twice a month totalling about 66k excluding generator fuelling.”  

@charis4charis: “Seye that 70k na my 2 months salary. We can’t continue like this abeg. FG should consider the average standard of living in Nigeria. Haba.”

Daniel Regha, others blast petrol stations for the sudden price of fuel

Meanwhile, controversial social media influencer, Daniel Regha, has given his opinion about the recent fuel subsidy in Nigeria.

In a Tweet, the writer shared that the fuel subsidy immediately took effect less than 12 hours after the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Tinubu assured that the crisis will be eradicated.

Recall that Ikejabird reported that Nigeria welcomed a new leader on the 29th of May, 2023, as Tinubu was sworn into office.
