Paris Saint-Germain has suspended Lionel Messi for a duration of two weeks because he made an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia on Monday.
Messi, who serves as an ambassador for tourism in Saudi Arabia, had planned the trip for a commercial commitment.
However, PSG players were supposed to attend training on Monday, after their defeat to Lorient on Sunday, and manager Christophe Galtier had called them in.

Messi receives disciplinary action
Messi was already in transit to Saudi Arabia and couldn’t attend the training, PSG players were photographed at their Camp des Loges training ground on Monday, but Messi was absent, and the club has initiated disciplinary proceedings against him as the trip was not sanctioned by Galtier or sporting advisor Luís Campos.
Therefore, Messi will not participate in the next two PSG games against Troyes on Sunday and Ajaccio on May 13.
PSG offers Messi New Contract
PSG has offered Messi a new contract on the same financial terms, but he has yet to commit as he is not convinced by their sporting project. Barcelona is keen to bring him back, and there is interest from the Middle East and MLS clubs. However, Messi hasn’t initiated concrete negotiations with any other club yet.

Saudi Secretary Breaks Silence on Messi’s Move to Al Hilal
In another news, Shortly after Cristiano Ronaldo signed one of the most lucrative deals in football, joining the Saudi side Al Nassr – Lionel Messi was also heavily linked with Al Hilal who are hoping to go a notch higher than what Ronaldo got to bring him to their side.
It was reported that Al Hilal were proposing to sign the World cup winner with an astounding $400 million.
Although this news has been widely reported, the Saudi Chief Ibrahim Alkassim who is the the general secretary of the Saudi Football Federation said he is not aware of the deal.
