Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has reacted to the photo of a policeman appearing to be taking weed popularly codenamed Igbo.
In a viral tweet, the officer who seems to belong to the Operation Tactical Team (OTT), was seen holding the dangerous substance with his AK-47 rifle hung around his waist.
The tweet where the picture was contained was made by a Twitter user in response to a post reacting to police officers’ habitual display of unprofessionalism while on duty.
Adejobi, who expressed shock over the picture, suggested that the officer is from Kwara state and directed the Kwara police command PPRO to “fish out this policeman and send him to my office at the FHQ.”
“I think this is Kwara. PPRO Kwara to fish out this policeman and send him to my office at the FHQ immediately. Can u see this, too?” he wondered.
Speaking on the misconduct of some officers, Adejobi said the personalities exhibited by the police personnel while in uniform “is a personal thing” and not “systemic” as people often judge.
“It’s a personal thing. I have said it severally that it’s not systemic. How can a policeman in uniform, on duty, be taking “igbo?” he said.
Over the recent time, Nigerians have expressed anger, disappointment and utter displeasure on the maltreatment, greed and corruption and extra-judicial killing among many evils perpetrated by the operatives of the Nigerian police.
