Festus Ohan, an inspiring young man, finally becomes a doctor despite losing his father at a young age and the horrible events he experienced as a child.

As a young boy, Festus had to face the grunt of surviving alone, without the assistance of both parents.
He described his father’s abandonment as the worst period in his life. “I went to bed in tears, crying, praying, asking God, ‘Why did this happen to me?,” he said.
He had to be put in eight different foster care homes. This was where he discovered how much he loved medicine and decided to pursue his dreams.
Finally a doctor despite hardship
Sadly, his dreams were not received with much enthusiasm by his foster parents.
“Unfortunately, it was met with skepticism and doubt from various foster parents and I was told to have more realistic aspirations” he said.
Despite this, Festus earned a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and received several acceptance letters to schools to become a Medical Doctor.
He was then awarded a scholarship to attend medical school at UCLA due to his versatility and brilliance.
“It was there that I found my desire to become an anesthesiologist and had gotten accepted to the residency program in UT Southwestern,” he said.
Festus now works at University of Texas UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas as a Medical Doctor who enjoys caring for his patients.
He encouraged others with his story saying, “Never give up, really hold on to your dreams, because as long as you’re able to stick through it and persevere, you will accomplish your goals.”
