Kevin De Bruyne, Man City’s midfielder, has hailed his teammate, Erling Haaland whom he believed will be able to match the goal scoring records of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi,
two of the best players in the world.
The midfielder said that Haaland has a hunger for excellence that is similar to the two great players.
He stated also that the obsession of the Man City’s striker and his decisive strike will make it possible for him to break either Ronaldo or Messi’s goal scoring record.
What De Bruyne Said
“Erling is so obsessed with goals. He already has about 200 goals, so he can probably go to 600, 700 or 800 if he stays fit and does the things that he does. Erling is a top-level striker. I don’t see Erling as different to a lot of people. He is a normal football player like everybody else and he doesn’t take himself too seriously,” De Bruyne said.
“When you talk about professional footballers or professional athletes, everybody has that little edge. I don’t think you can become a professional player if you don’t have that little something to become the best version you can be.”
Haaland’s Turbo Charged Performance this Season
Erling Haaland has so far scored 24 goals in 19 matches this season in Man City shirt. He is currently the top goal scorer in the Premier League.
De Bruyne believes that if he continues to perform at top level and he is injury free, he will be able to reach the level of Ronaldo and Messi.
