Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has voiced his disappointment over the forthcoming departure of British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) from Nigeria. 

This move comes after GSK announced its intention to cease prescription medicine and vaccine production within the country.

 The multinational pharmaceutical company plans to shift to a third-party direct distribution model for its pharmaceutical products.

He explained the effect of their departure 

In a tweet on Friday night, Peter Obi expressed his concern regarding GSK’s decision to leave Nigeria. 

He highlighted that the company’s justification for leaving, which revolves around the lack of prospects for a productive business environment in the country, is disheartening. 

Obi attributed these consequences to the cumulative mismanagement of Nigeria’s economy. 

He noted that the departure of multinational companies from the country not only results in job losses but also negatively impacts human capital development.

Peter Obi pleads with government to stop demolition of Properties

In another news, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, expressed his view on the ongoing demolitions of properties belonging to innocent Nigerian citizens.

 In his tweet, Obi acknowledged that while some demolitions may be justified, there should always be room for compassion for the fellow citizens

 He urged the government authorities to find a balance between enforcing compliance with regulations and considering the circumstances of the individuals affected.
