Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has agreed to stay with his team for three more years and will be paid $186 million for that time. He also has the option to stay an extra year after that. This means he won’t become a free agent until at least 2027.
This is a big deal because it shows that Giannis is very committed to the Bucks, the team that drafted him back in 2013 when he was a young player from Greece. The team’s general manager, Jon Horst, met with Giannis’s agent to ensure the contract was right for him.
There’s a rule that says because of Giannis’s age, he can sign a short-term contract with the Bucks in 2026 and then another longer one in 2028, which could be even more money.

Giannis is becoming one of the best basketball players ever. He’s won a championship, been named the best player in the league twice, and even got a special award for being great at defense.
Only two other players in history, Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon, have achieved all of these things.
So, Giannis and the Bucks are staying together and starting their new season by playing against the Philadelphia 76ers.
