Godswill Akpabio’s 10th Senate on Tuesday confirmed Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Cardoso was nominated by President Bola Tinubu on the 15th of September, 2023 as the apex bank’s new Governor for a term of five years. He replaces Godwin Emefiele, who reportedly resigned from his position in August following his suspension by the President.

In light of this, Ikejabird presents a refresher list of CBN Governors in Nigeria, from 1958 till date.

Olayemi Cardoso has served for over four decades in the public, private, and development sectors as a leader and innovator.

He has also served as Commissioner in the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, as well as the Chairman of the board of the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance. Most recently, he was also Chairman of Citibank Nigeria Ltd for 12 years, until his resignation in 2022.
