Jack Dorsey, the founder and former CEO of the microblogging website Twitter, has launched a new social media platform called “Bluesky.”
This comes just a week after Elon Musk, a business magnate and investor, purchased Twitter.
Within two days of the announcement, over 30,000 people had signed up for beta testing of the new app, which is still in its early stages.
Dorsey co-founded Twitter 17 years ago and briefly served as its CEO. He returned as CEO in 2015 and resigned in 2021.
Meanwhile, Bluesky has posted several job openings, including mobile application developer, react native expert, animation creator, and UI site manager.
IkejaBird had reported how Elon Musk successfully acquired Twitter for $44 billion, assuming control of the business and sacking several executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal.
Twitter Users have reacted to the new social app.
kevinwitvlietOO tweeted, “I’ll be leaving and joining Jack Dorsey’s Bluesky Social network when it launches.”
Shawn Copeland tweeted, “Jack Dorsey banking billions more than Twitter is worth and then launching a rival platform before the ink is even dry in the contract is epically funny.”
Marlowe tweeted, “Pretty damn funny. Former twitter CEO Jack Dorsey got Elon to buy a platform for 4X what it’s worth and then announced he’s setting up a new social network called Blue Sky which is pretty much twitter 2.0. Definitely moving there when is all set and done.”
