The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has announced that the Federal Government intends to revive the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).
DICON, established in 1964, was meant to make weapons locally but has struggled to do so. As a result, the military has had to rely heavily on other countries for weapons and ammunition.
During his visit to DICON, Minister Matawalle pledged to transform the organization so that it can manufacture military equipment.
