The Federal Government is poised to improve electricity in the country, the Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar Aliyu, has said.
The Minister disclosed this after a recent visit to Siemens Energy company factory in Frankfurt, Germany.
It was learnt that for improvement in electricity, the Federal Government materials ordered from Siemens.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Power, the minister met with senior officials of German government and Siemens.
Aliyu said the Nigerian government was determined to improve electricity.
He noted that with the Presidential Power Initiative, an important collaboration had been accomplished between the Federal Government and Siemens.
The statement reads partly:”The minister’s visit was part of efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari administration to modernize, upgrade and stabilize electricity supply in Nigeria.
“The minister noted that delivering stable electricity is a priority of current Nigerian government and government is investing in the efforts to modernize Nigeria’s power infrastructure for economic growth.
“During the visit, the minister expressed confidence in the commitment of Siemens to Nigeria’s power sector transformation and urged the German firm to fast track the delivery of orders placed by Nigerian government for the implementation of first phase of the plan that is aimed at achieving 25,000 megawatts by 2025.”
