Big Amara tweeted, “A doctor who had just 2 weeks to complete her housemanship just died in general hospital(Odan, Lagos island) due to poor management and negligence!!! The elevator she was in, fell from 10th floor to the ground! Video was so painful to watch.”
It was revealed that the elevator hasn’t been functioning well for the past one year.
Reactions: Negligence is killing us
Many Nigerians are accusing the management of Lagos Island General Hospital in Odan of neglect and misusing the money that should have been used to fix the elevator.
@cloudikeme: What are names of the management? Who was in charge of fixing that? Until we start sanctioning and actively doing things against these leaders in any capacity who are corrupt and mess things up, things will never change.
@tobishiyanbola: This is another unfortunate situation of “Nigeria happened to her”. When are we gonna get it right? When will life actually matter? First, negligence and “our” zero maintenance culture, to poor health care situation at the hospital. It’s just so sad. I pray God comforts her family, and loved ones
.@teejayviruz: Avoidable tragedy annoys me. I’m sure funds have been allocated and disbursed for the repairs but you know how it goes. If I say that everyone responsible for this from the very top to the bottom should have their backs against the drums and fast moving projectiles targeted at their restrained bodies, some will say I’m insensitive and have no human feelings. Negligence, nepotism, corruption is killing us and no one is being held responsible.
@GBENGAGHIZZY: This is really sad. I wonder why we are so negligent about everything in this country. I’m sure there must have been numerous complaints on this particular lift, the least management could have done was to seal it from being used pending when it gets fixed but it’s Naija na, smh
@LuyiDee: Elevator was bad. Elevator fell. Evacuation was taking up to 1 hour. People in a really big General Hospital knew there was somebody inside. How’s it that NOBODY made arrangements for resuscitation and emergency surgery??? There was an entire hour ffs!!!!!
