Chelsea has revealed that two of its players will miss the club’s English Premier League clash against Arsenal this weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side will host Mikel Arteta’s Gunners at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
However, in an official statement issued on Thursday, the Blues confirmed that Carney Chukwuemeka and Trevoh Chalobah will both be out of action this weekend as the duo have suffered setbacks in their recovery from injuries.
“Defender Trevoh Chalobah and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka have both suffered recent setbacks in their bid to return from respective injuries sustained earlier this season. The duo will now go under further review before continuing their rehabilitation at Cobham with the club’s medical staff,” an official club statement read.

Chukwuemeka has not featured for the Blues since he suffered a knee injury against West Ham. Also, Chalobah has not played any game for the Blues this season and is still recovering from a thigh injury.
Trevoh Chalobah to leave Chelsea in January
Meanwhile, Chalobah is also expected to leave the West London-based Premier League club on mutual consent this coming January.
Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, announced on October 15 that Chelsea and Trevoh Chalobah are expected to part ways.
The 24-year-old English center-back has to take this route because he wants to play more regularly from next year as he continues to push for his Three Lions of England debut.
Trevoh Chalobah is a product of the Chelsea youth system. While still a youth player at Chelsea, the English defender went on loan at Ipswich, Huddersfield, and FC Lorient in French Ligue 1.

On July 1, 2021, Chelsea promoted him to the club’s senior team and became consistent in the club’s first eleven under the tutelage of coach Thomas Tuchel.
However, he has lost his place in the team, especially in coach Mauricio Pochettino’s era, to the extent he is yet to make any appearances this season. The reason he has been sidelined all this while is said to be because of thigh problems which he has been nursing since last season.
Amidst his fitness issues, Bayern Munich made several efforts to sign him in the last summer transfer window, but the transfer talks collapsed in August 2023.
So far in his football career at Chelsea, which could end in January 2024, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Trevoh Chalobah has played 63 games in all competitions for Chelsea and has provided just four assists with no goal.
