In a recent BBC interview, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress said he made his money through real estate.
The BBC interviewer, Peter Okowoche had interrogated the presidential flag-bearer’s root of wealth and received a defensive response.
Tinubu said he is like Warren Buffett, one of the world’s most popular investors.
He also claimed that he inherited real estate. Both his real estate and investments had accumulated over the years, he said.
He also pointed out that those who inquire about his source of wealth may be enemies of wealth.
“Are the people questioning me enemies of wealth? I am getting all these arrows because I am the front runner. They have got to know how to ask questions and not in an accusatory manner,” Tinubu shot back.
The two-term governor of Lagos said that his investment has yielded tremendous profits.
He explained that he followed the same route of success as the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway with a net worth of $100 billion.
“Warren Buffett started from stock buying and now he has made billions. I inherited real estate and I turned the values around. I can’t deny my wealth,” he said.
However, some Internet users are not satisfied with Tinubu’s response to its source of wealth.
In fact, certain Twitter users said his response was similar to Hushpuppi, the convicted fraudster.
One Twitter user who identified herself as Ablive (@Theono_) said:
“When Hushpuppi was interviewed he lied to everyone that his source of income was real estate. But today he is in US prison. Bola Ahmed Tinubu should tell us another lie! We done hear this line before.”
Another Twitter user who identified himself as “ICE” (@o9ices) said:
“Nothing anybody want tell me, na Tinubu teach Hushpuppi work.”
Hushpuppi is currently serving 11 years jail term in the United States for defrauding $40 million from a US Law Firm among other crimes. Tinubu hopes to become Nigerian next president in 2023.
