Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter has proposed that users might begin to pay to access certain features on the platform.
The premium features that might soon become paid are the verification badge and Twitter Blue. Users will begin to pay a $20 monthly fee to keep their verification badges. This development will also give unverified users the opportunity to purchase the badge whether they are notable or not.
As reported by The Verge, the Twitter Blue subscription which used to be $4.99 will be $19.99 if the proposed payment policy is implemented. The bird app users will have a 90-day limit to subscribe to the monthly verification, otherwise, they will lose their badges.
The Twitter Blue subscription plan will continue to give users access to premium features like editing their tweets, set an NFT as profile, upload videos in 1080p, and see what articles people in their network share most.
As the Chief Twit proposes this, people are raising the question of how verified users who do not have access to Twitter Blue will subscribe as the feature is exclusive to those in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
