The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed his deepest condolences to the family and friends of Dr Vwaere Diaso.

Dr Diaso died in an elevator crash in Lagos Island General Hospital, Odan on Tuesday.

Taking to his Twitter page, Sanwo-Olu sympathized with the family of the deceased.

He wrote, “I was deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of Dr. Vwaere Diaso, a dedicated medical professional whose life was taken due to a mechanical failure within the elevator at the Doctors quarters of the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island. It is distressing to think that such a promising young doctor had her life cut short in such a devastating manner.

“As a parent myself, I cannot help but feel the pain and sorrow that Dr. Diaso’s loved ones must be experiencing during this difficult time. My heart goes out to her parents, family members, friends, and colleagues who are grieving this profound loss.”

He equally extended his sympathy to the Nigeria Medical Association, the Medical Guild, and all doctors in Lagos State.

“Losing a fellow healthcare professional is a tremendous loss for the entire medical community.”

He assured that a transparent, fair, and thorough investigation into the cause of the mechanical failure, will be conducted.

Dr Vwaere Diaso: Lagos State Government begins investigation into doctor’s death in hospital elevator crash

Meanwhile, The Lagos State Government has commenced investigation into the death of Dr Vwaere Diaso.

Dr Vwaere Diaso, who had just two weeks left to complete her housemanship program, died in an elevator crash in Lagos Island General Hospital, Odan, on Tuesday.

Since then, many Nigerians through offline and online protests, have accused the hospital management for negligence, and have pushed for thorough investigation.
